World’s first wireless multimedia sports portal launched

The world’s first wireless multimedia sports portal is being launched by PacketVideo, Codeonline, (an interactive wireless entertainment company) and Makra (a leading sports marketing company) that will enable football fans to view goal video clips, engage in voting and video-based quiz applications on mobile devices. The service can easily be tailored to support mobile operators looking to deliver services based on different sports and has the potential for the development of multimedia learning. Ananova streams real-time news to PDAs

Using PacketVideo’s Mobile Software Infrastructure, PVPlatform™, Ananova, in partnership with the PacketVideo Corporation will feed Ananova’s real-time news and information service to wireless PDA users. Roaming wireless LANs work 

Wireless LANs will be part of mainstream mobile services, due to successful roaming trials by Finnish service provider Sonera and Nokia. Sonera is using Nokia technology that allows mobile operators to offer broadband wireless Internet services in Wireless LAN access zones. (see press release)
