KidsCo TV Shop - Case Study
KidsCo has
become the "fourth voice" in the realm of global children's TV entertainment
alongside Nickelodeon, Disney and the Cartoon Channel. The
KidsCo
channel is a joint venture owned by leading media companies NBC Universal,
DIC Entertainment (DIC) and Corus Entertainment Inc.
Launched in
September 2007 in Poland, Romania and Turkey, it has now been extended to
Russia, Ukraine and Hungary and into parts of Asia including Singapore, Hong
Kong China and the Philippines. In addition, it is also available in the
Middle East and Western Europe – Germany and Spain. As a broadcast TV
channel it can be found on various cable and satellite services usually in
the native language or in English. It also has an accompanying multi-lingual
website.
Under a
consultancy contract, pjb Associates worked with this joint venture
consisting of Internet Television Productions Ltd and KidsCo to develop the
layout of the online e-shop in seven languages and ten different currencies
with third party online development companies. This involved handling
product management on the website, the processing of all orders including
online payments and towards the development of a multi-lingual customer help
desk support service. Reporting services included product statistics and
detailed website usage for help in the marketing of the services.
There was
also some discussion on possible future plans that could involve adding a
video player to the website to enable children to have access to some of the
programmes on-demand rather than as a scheduled service broadcast through
satellite and TV. There are plans to commission short “How do I” TV
programmes, initially to be broadcast on TV, but then accessible anytime on
the website for children to watch and enabling parents to buy, in the online
shop, the products that are needed to make a particular item.
